mr chedda & the overton window
loab's growth strategy #6 - it's time for deepfake psychological torture
an assorted collection this week starting with my absolute favourite little guy: mr chedda!!!
overton window reminder
pearl, the internet’s haggard bastion of tradwifery, has managed to make piers morgan look like a reasonable and progressive man with her despairingly cringe attempts to shift the overton window. this is a great analysis of what went down by writer and disability rights activist imani barbarin:
deepfake netflix psychological torture
a new netflix show, “falso amor”, generates AI deepfakes of people’s partners cheating on them to stir up drama. this is exactly where we all thought AI was gonna go.
the sec wants stonks to be boring again
apps “gamifying” trading are drawing the gaze of the SEC as a result of its two-year investigation following the gamestop short squeeze of 2021.
activist paid partnerships??
I follow the orlando clinic escorts on tiktok - a group of activists who make the journey into reproductive health clinics a bit less horrifying by drowning out the screeches of gileadean vitriol from anti-choice protestors.
one thing I like about this account is how the escorts chat with protestors and get to know them on a personal level. there’s animosity between the camps but you can also tell they’ve come to like each other.
they’ve also come to… do paid partnerships?? I saw this tag on a post about rabies vaccines this week.
the caption doesn’t say who’s paying. maybe it’s an accidental tag? or maybe someone’s using the escorts’ open-minded audience to push back on anti-vax sentiment? either way, no shade - rabies vaccines are a great cause.
if there's one person I trust for rabies info it's you xxx
